Highland Rescue Team Ambulance District

Highland Rescue Team Ambulance District is located in the Foothills of Denver. We proudly serve as the Emergency Medical District for the communities of Genesee, Lookout Mountain, and Idledale. Additionally, we cover Interstate 70 from the Morrison Exit (259) to just past the Evergreen exit at MM 251. There is a significant recreational component to our District with five separate open space areas of Jefferson County and Denver Mountain Parks offering hiking, mountain biking and running trails.

The department consists of 4.5 paid paramedics and about 50 volunteer EMTs and paramedics that provide 24/7 medical coverage to the district. Our station, located at highway 40 and Lookout Mountain, houses our 3 ALS ambulances and 1 rescue vehicle providing a central location for responding to our 33.5 square mile district. Highland Rescue's calls range from residential medical calls to multi-car accidents on I-70. We respond to backcountry calls for hikers off our many trail systems and provide wildland fire medical response for Genesee Fire Protection District and Foothills Fire Protection District. Each year, we respond to approximately 800 calls.
